(Luftwaffe Hauptmann Feldbluse). This tunic is constructed of blue-grey wool, featuring a turned-down collar flanked by a matching set of collar tabs, constructed of a buckram core, the exterior constructed of bright yellow wool, the obverse bearing three gulls constructed of silver aluminum bullion chord, adorned with laurel leaves beneath, and with twisted silver aluminum bullion chord around the edges, measuring 58 mm (w) x 41 mm (l). The collar is unlined, with the edges adorned by a twisted silver aluminum bullion chord. Secured to the shoulders via a pebbled magnetic button is a set of shoulder boards constructed of golden-yellow wool with a cardstock core bearing four bands of silver aluminum piping, with two gilded rank pips affixed to each of the boards, measuring 32 mm (w) x 105 mm (l). The left breast is adorned with the cloth version of a pilot’s badge, consisting of an oval laurel and oak leaf wreath, overlaid by a swooping German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, mounted on a matching blue-grey wool backer, measuring 73 mm (w) x 58 mm (l). On the right breast is a Luftwaffe officer’s eagle, with a hand-embroidered droptail-style Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, constructed of rolled and twisted silver aluminum bullion, and sewn onto a matching blue-grey wool backer, measuring 90 mm (w) x 50 mm (l). Positioned at the waist is one pleated pocket per side, both closing with flaps and secured via a single pebbled non-magnetic button. The two sides of the tunic are secured together using four grey bakelite buttons that are met by reinforced button-holes on the opposing flap.The interior is partially lined with herringbone pattern cotton, including the interior of the pockets. The exterior of the interior pocket is partially stamped “E. Hänndorf” along with five sets of double-digit numbers.The interior also features belt straps suspended from the interior of either sleeve. It measures approximately 41 cm across the shoulders, with a sleeve length of 55 cm and an overall length of 71 cm. The tunic exhibits period correct wear with light soiling throughout, in overall near extremely fine condition.
