Germany, H.J. A Pair of H.J/D.J Leader’s Breeches

(Hitlerjugend/Deutsche Jungvolk Leiter Stiefelhose). A pair of extremely well preserved and possibly unworn pair of Hitlerjugend/Deutsche Jungvolk leader’s breeches, constructed of fine quality black wool, with one diagonal-slit pocket at waist-height per side that is secured shut via a scalloped flap and a single black bakelite button, marked “HJ” and “DJ” with two oak twigs in a “V” formation on the obverse. There is a horizontal-slit pocket on the right side of the reverse with an additional horizontal-slit pocket on the front to the left of the right-hand pocket, that are equally secured shut via a scalloped flap and matching black bakelite button. The front is secured shut via six matching and similarly marked black bakelite buttons that are met by hidden reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. Along both sides at the hip is an integrated belt with a blued magnetic metal buckle per side for on-the-fly size adjustment. The inside is unlined with the exception of the beltline, the crotch and the interior of the pockets, which are lined with a silvery-grey rayon liner. There are an additional four matching buttons on the inside of the waist, with two fabric straps with buttons at the ends for the optional attachment of suspenders. Along the cuff of each pant leg is a 30 cm long vertical slit with five matching bakelite buttons, that are met by an equal number of reinforced button-holes on the opposing side. This pair of breeches measures 40 cm across the waist (seam to seam), with an inseam of 66 cm, and an overall length of 101 cm. This pair of breeches is free from signs of wear, in overall near mint condition.
