Germany, Ordnungspolizei. A Schutzpolizei M44 EM/NCO’s Field Blouse

(Schutzpolizei Feldbluse M44). An extremely well-preserved Schutzpolizei M44 field blouse, constructed of police-green wool. It features a turned-down collar which is flanked on each side by tabs constructed of silver-grey rayon, topped by three machine-embroidered bars executed in classic Schutzpolizei green, measuring 25 mm (w) x 70 mm (l) overall. Each shoulder is topped by an integral wool loop at the outer edge and by a pebbled zink button on the inner edge for the accommodation of boards. The cuff of each sleeve features a vertical slit with an interior bakelite button meeting two hidden buttonholes for an adjustable fit. Stitched onto the upper left arm is an insignia consisting of a police-green wool backer bearing a machine-embroidered green Ordnungspolizei insignia in the form of an oval oak leaf wreath overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed black mobile swastika. The sleeve insignia measures 80 mm (w) x 75 mm (h). Two non-pleated pockets are set into the breast flaps, and both closed with horizontal flaps perforated with reinforced buttonholes meeting pebbled buttons. It closes with six pebbled buttons on the right flap meeting an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the left. The interior armpits are reinforced with multi-piece rayon liners, each featuring a strap perforated with reinforced eyelets for the accommodation of an optional belt hanger. A single large interior pocket is set into the left breast, which also bears a stamp of “PO 1944” situated above size dimensions. The blouse measures approximately 45 cm across the shoulders, with an arm length of 56 cm, and an overall body length of 54 cm. Several buttons demonstrate evidence of period replacement, but with no notable damage or wear, the blouse remains in an extremely fine condition.
