Germany, Wehmacht. A Close Combat Clasp, Bronze Grade, by Friedrich Linden

(Nahkampfspange in Bronze). Constructed of bronzed zink, the obverse consisting of a central square oak leaf wreath, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a mobile swastika, above a crossed bayonet and stick grenade, flanked on each side by four rays and oak leaves interspersed with acorns, the reverse with a barrel hinge and horizontal banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, designer marked “PEEKHAUS, BERLIN” and maker marked with the logo of Friedrich Linden, Lüdenscheid, measuring 94.93 mm (w) x 25.83 mm (h), weighing 35.3 grams, the backplate is missing, the pinback and catch demonstrate evidence of repair of replacement, the overall structure shows post-manufacture vaulting, and most of the bronze finish has been lost, in fair condition.
