Germany, Weimar Republic. A Red Cross Medal, c.1930

(Deutsches Rotes Kreuz). Organization founded in 1864. In bronze, obverse illustrating two soldiers carrying a nude wounded man, with a red cross flanked by branches of laurel leaves on either side below, reverse inscribed "EDEL SEI DER MENSCH HILFREICH UND GUT" (Let Man be Noble, Helpful and Good), the medal designed by Wilhelm Jüngermann (1900-1977), who also designed a table medal with the same images and text, measuring 30.5 mm x 34.3 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, bruised, edge nicks, large contact mark evident on the obverse, original ribbon suspended from a hanger with fob, very fine.
