Description

Instituted in 1908. In silver and silver gilt, a skeletal oval topped by a crown, the obverse bearing the Royal monogram of King George V, reverse inscribed 1ST V & 4TH (T) CAPT. G.R. SILLS 1914 BN. LINCS. REGT, marked SG, as well as lion (London), uncrowned leopard (London 1821-), and r(1912), suspension marked with lion, original ribbon, 48.5 mm (h) x 36.7 mm (w), extremely fine. In a hard-shelled case, white satin lined on the inside lid, purple velvet medal bed, marked Garrard & Co, extremely fine condition.

Footnote: The Territorial Forces Decoration was instituted on 29 September 1908 and was awarded for a minimum of 20 years commissioned service, with service in the ranks counting half and war service counting double.
