Instituted 1899. In silver, full size, rim officially impressed 2396 PTE. J.J. WOODS, SCOTS GDS:, worn on replacement ribbon with three clasps BELFAST, ORANGE FREE STATE, CAPE COLONY, light wear, small edge knocks, remains in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Pte J.J. Woods is present on the medal roll for the Queen’s South Africa Medal and the King’s South Africa Medal. The Belfast clasp was granted to all troops who were east of a north and south line drawn through Wonderfontein, and west of a north and south line through Dalmanutha Station, and north of an east and west line through Carolina on the 26th or 17th of August, 1900. The Cape Colony clasp was awarded to all troops in Cape Colony at any time between October 11 1899 and May 31st 1902, unless they previously received a clasp for a specific action in Cape Colony. The Orange Free State clasp was awarded to all troops in Orange River Colony at any time between February 28, 1900 and May 31, 1902, who had not received a clasp for specific action in the Orange River Colony.
