(Sacro Militare Ordine Costantiniano di San Giorgio). Instituted in 1545. A lovely 20th Century Grand Officer Set, comprising a neck badge in silver gilt, comprising a red enamel cross featuring a superimposed XP symbol on the obverse, the arms of the cross I H S V A Ω P, reverse plain, worn on original next ribbon via an elongated loop, measures 52.2mm (w) x 54.26 mm (h - inclusive of integral ring), enamels intact, areas of oxidation, in extremely fine condition.
A small breast badge, comprising matching insignia - a red enamel cross featuring a superimposed XP symbol on the obverse, the arms of the cross I H S V A Ω P, reverse with a single vertical pin, reverse marked 925 denoting silver fineness, measures 51.65 mm (w) x 50.9 mm (h), weighs 20.03 grams enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by a miniature, in silver gilt and enamels, a boutonniere with device, and a miniature on a swatch of ribbon, contained in a case belonging to the order by Cravanzola Succ. Gardino, Roma (measures 140 mm (w) x 262 mm (h) x 30 mm (d), hinge and clasps functional, remains in very fine condition.
