Italy, Kingdom. An Order of St. Lazarus, Grand Officer’s Set by Cravanzola, c.1900

(Ordine dei Santi Maurizio e Lazzaro). Instituted in 1434. A Grand Officers Set, consisting of an 18 kt Gold neck badge, a white enamelled shamrock cross with the arms of a green rays of a Maltese cross in each quadrant, the reverse mirrors the obverse, surmounted by a large hollow Gold crown, worn on a full length green neck ribbon, measures 53.67 mm (w) x 85.08 mm (h), weighs 26.27 grams, enamel chips on white shamrock, ribbon missing tie at one end, remains in extremely fine condition. 

The Star of the set, in silver, a four point star of faceted rays, the obverse medallion superimposed featuring a white enamel shamrock cross with the arms of a green rays of a Maltese cross in each quadrant, the reverse with a single vertical pin, center cartouche denoting maker E. GARDINO SUCC CRAVANZOLA ROMA, measures 77.1 mm (w) x 77.05 mm (h), weighs 52.28 grams, enamels intact, lovely patina, in extremely fine condition. 

Contained in its original case of issue, a green leatherette exterior with crowned VE monogram on the lid, the interior with a black velvet medal bed with white silk lid marked CRAVANZOLA Succ. E. Gardino Gioielleria ROMA, measures 110 mm (w) x 235 mm (l) x 35 mm (d), light wear, hinge and clasp functional, in very fine condition.
