(Triju Zvaigžņu ordenis). Instituted in 1924. The badge of the order, in silver gilt, a white enamelled Maltese Cross with ball finials, smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents three gilt stars on a blue enamel field, encircled by a decorative gilt ring, the reverse medallion inscribed PER ASPERA AS ASTRA LATVIJAS REPUBLIKA 1918 G 18 VOEMBRIS, surmounted by a wreath suspension, marked with silver fineness mark 875, FM maker mark denoting W.F. Muller, and Latvian crowned head, worn on full length neck ribbon, measures 45.7 mm (w) x 70.0 mm (h), enamels intact, lovely gilt, wear, in extremely fine condition.
The Star of the Order, a five point silver star with faceted rays, with shorter faceted rays between the arms, the obverse medallion presenting three stars on a blue enamel field, surrounded by a ring inscribed PAR TEVIJU, the reverse presents a vertical pin with evidence of dual stays which have since been removed or broken off, marked on the center with Muller maker mark, with the Latvian crowned head on the pin, and the 875 silver fineness mark on the 12 o’clock, measures 76.7 mm (w) x 73.3 mm (h), tips of each main ray bent upwards with 12 o’clock tip missing, stays missing, enamels intact, in near very fine condition.
Contained in its original case of issue, a blue leatherette exterior presenting the Latvian coat of arms, interior with a blue velvet base and creme coloured silk lid, measures 130 mm (w) x 245 mm (h) x 50 mm (d), clasp and hinge functional, remains in very fine condition.
Accompanied by a black and white photograph of the recipient.
