Description
(Ordre de la Couronne de Chêne). Instituted in 1841. Multi-piece construction, insignia in silvered bronze with red and green enamels, mounted to a cross base in silvered bronze, the four arms of the cross faceted, marked "BRONZE" on the pin, measuring 83.5 mm (w) x 83 mm (h), vertical pinback flanked by dual stays, intact enamels, scattered silvering wear evident on the reverse, the two points on the arm at 9 o'clock bent back slightly, near extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Oak Crown was instituted on December 29, 1841 by King William II of the Netherlands, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. It is awarded for civil and military services and for artistic achievement, in five grades: Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer and Knight, along with Medals in Gold, Silver and Bronze.
