(Militaire Willems-Orde). Instituted in 1815. Manufactured specifically for recipients of this high order, in glass fabricated from lead crystal, weighing 256 grams, the exterior of the bowl cut in multiple diamond patterns, with large angled squares on the front and back, the front square designed with a pronounced vertical rectangle embedded with a miniature of the Military Order of William, the Order in silver gilt with blue, white and green enamels, with a partial ribbon in silver gilt with blue and orange enamels, measuring 17.5 mm (w) x 34.5 mm (h), exhibiting crazing in the white enamels on the arms, the rear square with the engraved interlocking initials "TRF" in script, a ring placed halfway up the stem for the holder to grip the glass, the mouth measuring 51.8 mm in diameter at the exterior x 108 mm in height, the base bearing a starburst pattern cut into the underside and measuring 46.3 mm (w) x 47.3 mm (h), the base exhibiting chipping and crazing. Very fine.
Footnote: The Military Order of William was instituted on April 30, 1815 and awarded to Dutch soldiers (and exceptionally foreigners) for outstanding deeds of bravery or leadership on the battlefield, in four grades: Grand Cross, Commander, Knight 3rd Class, and Knight 4th Class.
