Description
(Ordinul Steaua Romaniei). Instituted in 1877 by Prince Carol I. Type I (1877-1932). Civil Division. In silver gilt, a blue enamel cross with clusters of smooth rays in each quadrant, the obverse medallion features a superimposed eagle on a red enamelled field, surrounded by a blue enamel ring inscribed IN FIDE SALUS, encircled by a green enamelled wreath, the reverse bears the crowned monogram of King Carol I, the cross is surmounted by a large crown, measures 63.5mm (w) x 94.6mm (h – inclusive of cross adorned crown suspension), weighs 69.5 grams, enamels intact, minimal silver gilt wear, in extremely fine condition.
Accompanied by a segment of neck ribbon, measuring 120mm in length.
