(Ordin "Corona Romaniei"). Instituted in 1881. Type I (1881-1932 Issue). A Grand Officer’s Set comprising a neck badge, in silver gilt, a red and white enamelled Maltese Cross with C cyphers in each quadrant, the obverse medallion presents a crown with the inscription PRIN NOI INSINE14. MARTIE 1881, the reverse medallion bears the days 10.MAIU 1866 1877 1881, measures 62.08 mm (w) x 63.86 mm (h), reverse of the elongated loop marked ARG denoting silver, and JRF denoting manufacture of Joseph Resch Fils, enamels intact, gilt wear, near mint condition.
The Star of the Order, in silver, an eight point star with clusters of silver rays, the obverse medallion features a crown on a red enamelled field, surrounded by a white ring inscribed PRIN NOI INSINE 14 MARTIE 1881, reverse features a vertical pin assembly, central cartouche identified the maker JOSEPH RESCH & FIU BUCAREST, pin marked ARG denoting silver fineness, measures 83.2 mm (w) x 82.8 mm (h), enamels intact, in extremely fine condition.
In the original case of issue, a blue leatherette exterior with Romanian cypher on the lid, interior lid marked Joseph Resch Fils Bucarest, grey velvet medalbed, measures 110 mm (w) x 235 mm (l) x 40 mm (d), catch slightly off center, minor wear and fatigue to the exterior, silk covering hinge on the interior ripped, in very fine condition.
