Constructed of bronze, the obverse bearing a raised and rightward-facing bust of Tsar Peter I (“the Great”), circumscribed by name and title, the reverse bearing a raised double-headed Russian imperial eagle defaced by a St. Petersburg coat of arms, flanked by dates “1703-1953” in Roman numerals, situated above an inscription of “S. PETERSBURG DIE XVI MAI S.V.”, the obverse engraver marked with the dedication of Pierre-Simon-Benjamin Duvivier for the medal’s original die, the reverse designer marked with the logo of Nicholai Zaretski and an additional mark indicating commission by Association des Amateurs du Passé Militaire Russe (the Association of Enthusiasts of Russian Military Past), measuring 59.04 mm in diameter, weighing 88.2 grams, accompanied by its original presentation case, constructed of a two-piece card stock frame with a faux maroon leather exterior liner, measuring 65 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
