Description
Constructed of bronze, consisting of a vaulted Cross Pattée, the obverse of the arms
joined through the quadrants by the monograms of Tsars Alexander I, Nicholas I,
Alexander III, and Nicholas II, bearing a central ribbed Geneva Cross overlaid by a disc
featuring a circular laurel leaf wreath surrounding a raised number “349” (the number of
days of the SIege of Sevastopol during the Crimean War), the three and nine o’clock
arms bearing raised dates “1811-1911”, the six o’clock arm bearing a Cyrillic inscription
of “56 ЖИТ. ПОЛКЪ 100” (for the 56th Zhitomir Regiment 100th anniversary), the
twelve o’clock arm bearing the raised monograms of Tsars Alexander II and Grand
Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich, the reverse with a central threaded lug retaining a period
original nut, unmarked, measuring 50.96 mm (w) x 50.57 mm (h), weighing 25.2 grams,
in extremely fine condition.
