Description
Description
(Armádna a vládna dýka). Circa 1939 issue. A very well-preserved Slovakian Army and Government Official’s M39 Dagger, measuring 38.5 cm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a tapering 22 cm-long, nickel-plated, magnetic steel blade retaining factory-original sharpening to the tip. The blade sits securely within a multi-piece nickel-plated alloy hilt, with an intact grey leather buffer pad covering the seam. A stylized crossguard transitions to a handle featuring a double-sided circular Slovak national emblem, with imitation mother of pearl grip inserts, the latter secured in place with dual rivets. Accompanying the dagger is its original scabbard, constructed of a nickel-plated magnetic metal shaft featuring a dimpled texture throughout the exterior. Dual integral loops emanate from the side of the shaft just below the throat for the accommodation of a hanger. A functional spring catch situated within the throat firmly holds the dagger in place during storage. Unmarked, the dagger demonstrates minor issues consistent with age and wear, including slight running marks to the blade, some scratching to the nickel plating of the applicable fixtures, and surface scratching to one of the grip inserts. A scarce example, this dagger remains in an extremely fine condition.
