Description
(Orden de Cisneros). Instituted in 1944. Of extremely fine quality and attention to detail, in Gold and enamels, a red enameled Maltese cross with hand filed diamond ball finials, the obverse bearing a black enameled eagle with arrows in each quadrant, the reverse with a buttonhole fixture which features a hand etched design, measures 22.2 mm (h) x 22.3 mm (w), weighs 6.46 grams, extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Cisneros was established by Francisco Franco on 8 March 1944. The order was modified in 1976 to only reward politicians for merit, and was later modified again on 15 April 1977. Although the order has not been awarded since September 1977, it has not been formally abolished by the Spanish government.
