(Eine Dienstuniform eines Schweizer Artilleriesoldaten). This is a fine quality and extremely well preserved uniform set, consisting of a tunic and a pair of trousers. 1) The tunic is constructed of thick quality field-grey wool, with an up-turned collar, flanked on both sides by red collar tabs, constructed of a buckram core, with a red wool upper, measuring 65 mm (l) x 32 mm (w). The shoulders are decorated with sew-on shoulder boards, secured to the shoulders via a single pebbled button featuring a Greek cross. This tunic features four pockets in total; two pleated breast pockets, and two pleated waist pockets. All are secured shut via a flap, with the breast pockets additionally secured via a green bakelite button. The cuffs feature a slit that is secured shut with a series of three buttons per sleeve. Each cuff is also decorated with a tab, constructed of red wool, with a set of crossed cannon barrels machine-embroidered in black on the obverse, measuring 128 mm (w) x 38 mm (l). The tunic closes in the front with six matching gilded bronze buttons, decorated with a Greek cross, that meet an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. The sides of the interior are lined with a grey multi-piece cotton liner, with the body and sleeves completely unlined. The liner is stamped “43, 44, 3A” and “H.N. Fribourg” in red ink. It measures approximately 43 cm across the shoulders (seam to seam), with a sleeve length of 61 cm, and an overall body length 77 cm. 2) The accompanying trousers are constructed of matching field-grey wool, with one vertical-slit pocket per side, and with one horizontal-slit pocket on the right side of the reverse, all secured shut via a single bakelite button. The front is secured shut in the middle via a series of three vertically mounted green bakelite buttons that are met with an equal number of reinforced buttonholes on the opposing side. The waist is ordained with six green bakelite buttons on the exterior for the attachment of optional suspenders, with an integral belt with metal hardware in the center of the reverse for size adjustment. This pair is unlined, with the exception of the waist and the interior of the pockets, which are lined in matching grey-coloured cotton fabric, and stamped “74” in matching red ink. Each cuff has a 18 cm long slit in them, secured shut by a series of four buttons per side. The pair of trousers measures 41 cm across the waist (seam to seam), with an inseam of 72 cm, and an overall length of 100 cm. This uniform pair is extremely well preserved, with only light wear to the collartabs on the tunic, but otherwise free from obvious wear, in overall better than extremely fine condition.
