(Орден Богдана Хмельницького). Instituted in 1995. In rhodium-plated red brass with red, white and yellow enamels, maker marked and number engraved "N 35169" on the reverse, measuring 46.2 mm (w) x 46.2 mm (h), horizontal pinback, intact enamels, extremely fine. Accompanied by an Award Booklet (inscribed "УКРАЇНА ОРДЕНСЬКА КНИЖКА" on the front cover, made out to the recipient in handwritten black ink, Series Numbered "049453" and Honours Numbered "No. 35169" (matching the number on the reverse of the award) on the inside spread, measuring 68 mm (w) x 103 mm (h)), in their hardshelled case of issue, Ukraine coat-of-arms on the lid, maroon felt medal bed, measuring 85 mm (w) x 122 mm (h) x 30.5 mm (d), case also extremely fine.
Footnote: The Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky is a Ukrainian military award named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Hetman of the Ukrainian Cossacks. The award was established by Ukrainian president Leonid Kuchma, to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War, on May 3, 1995. It is awarded to Military and Security Personnel, and other citizens of Ukraine, for exceptional duty in defense of state sovereignty and state security, and to veterans of the Second World War.
