1.An Order of the Red Banner Medal. Silver badge in white and red enamel surrounded by two golden panicles of wheat, obverse centrepiece shows gilded hammer and sickle surmounted on a red star, hammer, plough, and torch, above sits a red-enamelled flag with the Soviet motto 'Proletarians (Workers) of all countries, Unite!', reverse marked with 404334 and maker’s mark, on the Soviet pentagonal mount with original red striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 48.8 mm (h) x 36.3 mm (w), extremely fine condition.
Footnote: On September 16, 1918 the first military decoration of Soviet Russia, the Order of the Red Banner, was established by the decree of the All-Union Central Executive Committee. The medal was awarded to the citizens of the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic for heroism in combat or otherwise extraordinary accomplishments of military valor during combat operations, as well as to military units, warships and formations. The early variants of the Order were screw back badges to allow wear on clothing. Later variants (from 1943) hung from a standard Soviet pentagonal mount with a ring through the suspension loop.
2. Leningrad Medal. In bronze, obverse shows relief images of helmeted Red Army soldier, a sailor, and a worker with the relief outline of the Leningrad Admiralty building, reverse shows hammer and sickle with the inscription 'For our Soviet Motherland', on the Soviet pentagonal mount with original olive green striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 38.3 mm (h) x 32.1 mm (w), evidence of some spotting on obverse, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Leningrad Medal was a World War II campaign medal of the Soviet Union established on 22 December 1942. It was awarded in recognition of the valour and hard work of the Soviet civilian and military defenders of Leningrad during the 872-day siege of the city by the German armed forces between September 8, 1941 and January 27, 1944.
3. Victory over Germany Medal. In brass, obverse shows profile of Stalin facing left with the inscription ‘Our Cause is Righteous We Are Victorious’, reverse inscription reads ‘For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-5’, on the Soviet pentagonal mount with orange striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 37.4 mm (h) x 32.2 mm (w), very fine condition.
Footnote: The medal was a military decoration of the Soviet Union instituted on 9 May 1945, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It was awarded for military participation in the victory of the Soviet armed forces over Nazi Germany in the Great Patriotic War.
4. Twenty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945 Jubilee Medal. In brass, obverse shows the caped Soviet soldier holding a child in his left arm and a mighty sword cutting through a swastika in the other with the dates 1945 and 1965, reverse inscription reads 'Twenty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945', reverse centre shows five pointed star overlapping the Roman numeral 'XX', on the Soviet pentagonal mount with original striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 37.1 mm (h) x 32.1 mm (w), extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Medal was instituted on 7 May 1965 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to denote the twentieth anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
5. Capture of Koenigsberg Medal. In brass, obverse inscription reads 'For the Capture of Königsberg', obverse shows a five pointed star with rays at the top and laurel branch, reverse bears the date '10 APRIL 1945', on the Soviet pentagonal mount with original striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 37 mm (h) x 32.1 mm (w), evidence of some wear, very fine condition.
Footnote: The medal was instituted on 9 June 1945 by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR to satisfy the petition of the People's Commissariat for Defense of the Soviet Union. It recognizes participation in the battle to capture the city of Königsberg from the armed forces of Nazi Germany.
6. Commemoration of the 800th Anniversary of Moscow Medal. In brass, obverse shows the profile of Yuri Dolgorukiy facing left with the inscription ‘The founder of Moscow Yuri Dolgorukiy’, reverse inscription reads ‘In commemoration of the 800th anniversary of Moscow’, reverse centre shows an image of the Kremlin with the dates 1147 and 1947, on the Soviet pentagonal mount with original striped ribbon, inclusive of eyelet 42.3 mm (h) x 37.1 mm (w), extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Medal was a state commemorative medal of the Soviet Union established by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on September 20, 1947 and bestowed to prominent Soviet citizens and veterans in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the first Russian reference to Moscow, dating to 1147 when Yuri Dolgorukiy called upon the prince of the Novgorod-Severski to "come to me, brother, to Moscow".
