(Orde van Oranje-Nassau). Instituted on 4 April 1892 by Queen-Regent Emma. Civil Division. In 18K Gold, the badge of the order consists of a Maltese Cross in white and blue enamels with ball finials, Gold laurel wreaths in each quadrant, obverse center in silver with crowned Dutch Lion on a background on blue enamels with gold pattern, surrounded by white enamel with the motto JE MAINTIENDRAI, reverse center with stylized "W" for Queen Wilhelmina, surrounded by white enamel with the words GOD ZY MET ONS (God is with us), adorned by a Gold Imperial Crown, marked with a V (Vreemd) hallmark denoting import of item between 1906-1935 measuring 49.4 mm (w) x 78.5 mm (h), weighs 30.13 grams, enamel damage to obverse medallion, otherwise in extremely fine condition. Accompanied by the full length sash badge in blue and yellow silk.
The Star of the order, a multiple ray eight-point silver star, centre obverse in 18K Gold presents a rampant lion on a dark blue enamelled medallion with small gilt rectangles in the background, encircled by a white enamel ring bearing the inscription JE MAINTENDRAI (I Will Maintain), centre reverse presents a vertical pin assembly flanked by dual stays, makers marked with cartouche of M.J GOUDSMIT LA HAYE, pin marked with an import duty mark of a wolf head in triangle denoting import from 1893-1905, measures 75.5 mm (w) x 81.9 mm (h), weighs 72.45 grams, enamels intact, tips of rays are dark, functional pin and catch, in extremely fine condition.
The set is contained in an original case of the Order, a hardshell orange leatherette with the Dutch JE MAINTIENDRAI coat of arms on the lid, the interior features a rich blue silk lid marked REOLOF CITROEN AMSTERDAM, with a dark blue velvet medalbed with storage component for the sash above, measures 150 mm (w) x 270 mm (h) x 62 mm (d), functional hinge and catch, small areas of wear to the edges and corners of the case, remains in extremely fine condition.
