Lebanon. An Order of the Cedar, Grand Cordon

(Wisām al-Arz al-Waṭaniy). Instituted in 1936. In silver gilt with red, white, green and brown enamels, five-pointed Maltese cross in white enamel, enameled green and brown cedar tree in each quadrant, obverse centerpiece shows red enamel medallion inscribed in Arabic “Lubnan” (Lebanon), reverse centerpiece shows Lebanese flag on gold background, inclusive of green-enameled laurel wreath 75.3 mm (h) x 56.7 mm (w), includes full-length original sash with ribbon at the ends, white enamel damage on reverse, very fine condition.

Footnote: The National Order of the Cedar was instituted on 31 December 1936. It is awarded for great services rendered to Lebanon, for acts of courage and devotion of great moral value, as for years in public service.
