1.An Order of Civil Merit of the Syrian Arab Republic. Five point star in white and green enamels with silver border, superimposed on a silver disk attached to a laurel wreath suspension, reverse Arabic inscription, marked ARTHUS BERTRAND, on original striped ribbon, inclusive of suspension 61.5 mm (h) x 43.4 mm (w), enamels intact, some stains on white enamel, very fine condition. Housed in the original case of issue, very fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of Civil Merit of the Syrian Arab Republic was instituted on 25 June 1953 and is awarded for service to the state or to the Arab cause.
2.An Order of Devotion, IV Class. Five-pointed star attached to a laurel wreath suspension, the obverse centerpiece features an Arabic inscription which translates to "Honour and Devotion", the reverse is inscribed with an Arabic inscription which translates to "RS" for the Republic of Syria, on original ribbon, inclusive of suspension 51.5 mm (h) x 37.5 mm (w), very fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of Devotion was originally instituted under the French protectorate in 1935 as the "Medaille de Devouement" but was formally amended by Legislative Decree as a Syrian honor on July 4, 1953. The Order is awarded in 5 Classes to members of the Syrian civil service and administrators for outstanding loyalty and devotion to their work or for 5 years of faithful and sincere service to the state.
