This is a very fine group of documents presented to Ewald Woiwod of the 5th SS Police Regiment 16;
1) The War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords document measures 210 mm x 148 mm, and is well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
2) The Infantry Assault Badge document is issued to Zugwachtmeister “d. SchP.” (der Schutzpolizei) Ewald Woidod of the 5th SS Polizei Regiment 16, at the “Rgt. St. Qu.” (Regiments Staabsquatier) on April 29th, 1944. It bears the seal of the SS-Polizei regiment 16, as well as the signature of Oberleutnant of the unit. The document measures 210 mm x 148 mm, and is well preserved, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
3) This Black Grade Wound Badge document is issued to Zugwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Ewald Ewald Woidod of the 5th SS Polizei Regiment 16, for a single injury sustained on November 24th, 1941. The document was issued at the Battalion Gefechtsstand on December 17th, 1943. It bears the seal of the SS Polizei Regiment 16, as well as the signature of the Hauptmann of the unit. The document measures 196 mm x 139 mm and is well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
4) Silver Grade Wound Badge document is issued to Zugwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Ewald Ewald Woidod of the 5th SS Polizei Regiment 16, for a single injury sustained on January 14th, 1944. The document was issued at Neumünster on February 28th, 1944. It bears the seal of the Neumünster Polizei, as well as the signature of the Oberfeldarzt. The document measures 200 mm x 140 mm and is well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
5) The Gold Grade Wound Badge document is issued to Zugwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Ewald Ewald Woidod of the 5th SS Polizei Regiment 16 for three injuries; November 24th, 1943, November 29th, 1943, and January 14th, 1944, with the latter including an amputation. The document was issued in Travenmübde on June 20th, 1944. It bears the seal of the Travenmünde Lazarett and the signature of the Stabsarzt/Chefarzt. The document measures 198 mm x 140 mm and is well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
6) The Iron Cross 1939 Second Class document is issued to Zugwachtmeister Ewald Woidod of the 5th SS Polizei Regiment 16, in Hamburg, on October 6th, 1944. It bears the official award document number “2753” as well as a signature of the General der Infantrie - Stellvertreter Kommandierender General des X.A.K. The document measures 200 mm x 140 mm, and is well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
Also included in this exceptional group of documents is a promotional document, a 8-Year Police Long Service Medal, and a thorough award booklet for a Bronze DRL (Deutsche Reichssportabzeichen) Badge.
7) The promotional award document is issued in the name of the Führer, promoting Ewald Woiwod from Polizeioberwachtmeister (Police Officer) to Polizeirevieroberwachtmeister (Polizei Precinct Chief). The document was issued on November 9th, 1940, and is signed by the Oberst und Kommandeur der Schutzpolizei. The document measures 298 mm x 210 mm, and is extremely well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.
8) This 8-year Police Long Service (3rd Grade) award document is issued to Polizeirevieroberwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei Ewald Woiwod Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg. The document was issued in Berlin, on August 26th, 1941. It bears the watermark and signature of the Staatsminister und Chef der Präsidialkanzlei. It measures 296 mm x 210 mm, and is extremely well preserved, without major signs of wear or use, but with two hole punches on the left side of the document.9) This DRL (Deutsche Reichssportabzeichen) Bronze Badge award document is issued to Ewald Woiwad, and was awarded in Berlin on July 24th, 1937. It is numbered “485779”, and features a facsimile of the Reichsportführer. The booklet is a total of 16 pages long, and features several pages of official accolades and successes that warrant the bronze DRL badge to be awarded. The document measures 221 mm x 140 mm, and is extremely well preserved.Overall, this is a very fine collection of documents and awards belonging to an SS-Policeman who saw action towards the latter years of the war. He was awarded an Iron Cross 1939 Second Class, a War Merit Cross Second Class with Swords, as well as a Silver Infantry Assault Badge for his gallantry, bravery, and service during combat action, as well as a black, silver, and gold wound badges for injuries sustained. Overall, this grouping is in better than extremely fine condition.
