Germany, Wehrmacht. A Mixed Lot of Awards

(Wehrmacht Auszeichnungen). A mixed lot of awards, including:

1. A War Merit Medal, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised Maltese Cross with pebbled arms and a central mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of “FÜR KRIEGSVERDIENST 1939” (“FOR WAR MERIT 1939”), unmarked, measuring 32.18 mm in diameter, weighing 12.7 grams, in near mint condition.

2. A War Merit Cross II Class with Swords, constructed of bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, consisting of a Maltese Cross with pebbled arms, the obverse bearing a central wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing a central wreathed date of “1939”, unmarked, measuring 48.11 mm (w) x 49.16 mm (h), weighing 24.4 grams, demonstrating the remnants of an adhesive to the obverse centrepiece in addition to loss of bronze finish throughout the base metal, in better than very fine condition.

3. A Wehrmacht 12-Year Long Service Medal, constructed of gilded magnetic metal, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse bearing a central raised Heer-style German national eagle clutching a mobile swastika, circumscribed by an inscription of “TREUE DIENSTE IN DER WEHRMACHT” (“FAITHFUL SERVICE IN THE WEHRMACHT”), unmarked, measuring 11.9 grams, demonstrating loss of finish throughout the base metal in very fine condition.

4. An Eastern People’s Merit Decoration, II Class in Silver, constructed of silvered zink, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, the obverse consisting of an eight-pointed radiant starburst, bearing a central raised rosette, surrounded by a circular laurel leaf wreath, unmarked, measuring 39.00 mm (w) x 45.91 mm (h), weighing 14.4 grams (inclusive of ribbon), demonstrating loss of silver finish throughout, in very fine condition.
