In 14K Gold with red enamels, weighing 28.3 grams inclusive of its clasps, ribbon and hanger, maker marked "J.E.C. & CO." (J.E. Caldwell & Company, Philadelphia) and marked "14K" (Gold) on the reverse of the arm at 6 o'clock, engraved in capitals "MINNIE - ROSINA - TARBOX - LAY." and numbered "700" on the reverse cartouche, measuring 34 mm (w) x 38 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, intact enamels, three clasps bearing a ribbon banner inscribed "MOST NOBLE ORDER", one marked "LG, one marked "KB and one marked "KG" below the ribbon banner respectively, original ribbon suspended from a hanger with pinback, extremely fine.
Footnote: Membership in the National Society Daughters of the Barons of Runnemede is limited to women who are lineal descendants of one or more of the twenty-five Barons selected to enforce the Magna Charta, and of those Barons who were instrumental in helping to secure it. Descent through either the male or female line will be acceptable. Membership is by invitation only. Minnie Rosina Tarbox Lay was born on October 2, 1876 in Iowa and was the wife of Merwin Watson Lay. She died on July 23, 1973 in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, at the age of 96. She is buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Syracuse, Section 72, Plot 293.
