In 14K Gold, hollow, weighing 30.7 grams inclusive of its clasps, ribbon and pinback, maker marked "BB&B" (Bailey, Banks and Biddle of Philadelphia), marked "14K" (Gold) and engraved in capitals "MARGARET A. JACKSON" on the reverse, measuring 35.5 mm (w) x 47.8 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, seven clasps affixed to its original ribbon, the clasps engraved in running script (in ascending order) "Richard Woodhull II, Richard Woodhull I, Richard Smith II, Richard Smith I, Nicasius de Sille, William Smith II, William Smith I", the ribbon suspended from a pinback hanger bearing the inscription "MAY 1890 23", extremely fine.
Footnote: The Society of the Colonial Dames of America members are "women who are descended in their own right from some ancestor of worthy life who came to reside in an American Colony prior to 1776, which ancestor or some one of his descendants, being a lineal descendant of the applicant, shall have rendered efficient service to his country during the Colonial period, wither in the founding of the commonwealth, or of an institution which has survived and developed into importance, or who shall have held important position in the Colonial government, and who by distinguished services shall have contributed to the founding of this great and powerful nation. Service rendered after 1783 not recognized."
