Hardcover, dark green cloth cover, the text and illustrations on the cover in gold-colored ink, entitled "For God and Country - A History of the Knights of Columbus Catholic Army Huts" by Reverend I.J.E. Daniel and Reverend D.A. Casey, Litt.D., copyrighted in Canada in 1922. The book is "Dedicated to those who suffered that we might still be free", beginning with a Table of Contents, followed by an Introduction, where it states that "these pages enshrine a story of patriotic endeavor that is worthy of permanent record". It is divided into fifteen chapters: I - The Beginning of Things; II - For God and Country; III - At Bramshott Camp; IV - The Lights of London; V - Country Camps; VI - Here and There in France and Germany; VII - Hospitals and at Discharge Depot; VIII - Demobilization Camps; IX - Our London Office; X - Canada's Welcome Home; XI - The Work in Alberta; XII - Activities of Hospital Committees; XIII - The Bonne Entente; XIV - Activities Among Foreign Forces; XV - Activities Among Permanent Forces. It incorporates twenty-four black and white illustrations inserted at random intervals throughout, featuring the huts themselves, along with an assortment of groups and individuals connected to the Knights of Columbus. It concludes with six Appendices (I - "A Worker Adds Her Word"; II - A Trip to Siberia; III - Comptroller's Office; IV - Overseas Chaplains; V - Financial Statements; VI - Investiture of Papal Honors and Banquet) and two fold-out charts at the back of the book (Hospital Donations; Donations of Huts to Permanent Forces). The book contains 214 pages of text, printed in black ink on an off-white paper stock, the illustrations printed in black ink on a semi-coated paper stock, measuring 155 mm (w) x 255 mm (h) x 25 mm (d). The exterior cover along with the inside front and back covers, in addition to some of the pages exhibit soiling, the gold-coloured text on the spine having worn off, one chart at the back of the book exhibiting pencil marks, however, most of the pages remain pristine. Fine.
