Canada; George V. (4070804 PTE E. DEJONEKER) naming is engraved, sterling silver, marked "STERLING" on the reverse, on a full-length silver neck chain, extremely fine.
Footnote: Edmond DeJoneker was born in Rudervoorde, Belgium on December 26, 1894 but was residing in Stoney Mountain Manitoba, along with his parents, Henri de Jonckheere and the late Barbara de Jonckheere, when he enlisted at age 22. He joined the 1st Depot Battalion on November 11, 1917. He died at St. Boniface Hospital due to a “fracture of cranium” after a motorcycle accident. His estate was left to his brother, Arthur, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. DeJoneker is buried at the St. Boniface Cemetery, Manitoba, grave reference: G. 285 and is commemorated on page 396 of the First World War Book of Remembrance.
