A British War Medal (838536 SPR. F.H. LEESON. C.R.T.), Victory Medal, (838536 SPR. F.H. LEESON. C.R.T.) Impressed;
A Bentinck Township Medal, in 10K Gold, shield-shaped, obverse illustrating a standing soldier bearing a rifle, with a flag exhibiting multiple folds behind him, the soldier placed above an open-ended wreath composed of branches of laurel leaves and maple leaves, the shield surmounted by a right-facing beaver, reverse inscribed PRESENTED TO F Leeson BY THE CITIZENS OF Bentinck FOR GALLANT SERVICES IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-18, marked 10K and R denoting maker Roden Brothers of Toronto, measures 32.4 mm (w) x 39.7 mm (h), weighs 7.58 grams, worn on a chain fob with horizontal bar, light wear, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: Frederick Howard Bentick was born on January 28, 1885 in Bentick, Grey County, Canada. He was employed as a farmer prior to enlisting for the war on January 6, 1916.
He sailed for France via the SS Olympic in November of 1916 and served with the 147th battalion. He was posted to the Canadian Railway Troops in January 1919. He was demobilized and discharged in March 1919.
