A lot of cased United States military medals and awards complete with miniatures, ribbon bars, and boutonnieres, consisting of:
1. A cased Distinguished Flying Cross. Instituted July 2nd, 1926. Constructed of bronze, on a double loop for suspension from its ribbon bar and period original ribbon, consisting of a Cross Pattée with multiple rays in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a four-bladed propeller, the reverse blank, unmarked, measuring 43.8 mm (w) x 49.0 mm (l), weighing 28.48 grams. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Distinguished Flying Cross” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in creamy off-white silk, with an intact silken hinge cover and a felted medal bed, with a functional metal barrel hinge on the back of the case,
2. A cased Purple Heart. Instituted August 7th 1782 by George Washington. (1945 issue). Of two-piece construction in the shape of a heart in bronze gilt and with purple, red, white, and green enamels, the obverse with a gilded leftward facing bust of George Washington affixed onto purple-coloured and heart-shaped enamels with the Coat of Arms of George Washington near the top of the award, consisting of a white enameled shield with two horizontally positioned red enameled bars and three horizontally positioned side-by-side red enameled five-pointed stars within a sprig of green enameled laurel leaves, the reverse consists of a raised bronze heart with the words “For Military Merit” in relief below the bronzen coat of arms, on a fixed horizontal ball and squared oval loop suspension from its ribbon that is mounted on a soft elongated medal board, measuring 35.0 mm (w) x 47.4 mm (l), accompanied by its miniature with a horizontal pinback, measuring 17.9 mm (w) x 27.6 mm (l), with a medal ribbon bar featuring a horizontal pinback and a multi-enameled boutonniere. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Purple Heart” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in creamy off-white silk, with an intact silken hinge cover and a felted medal bed, with a functional metal barrel hinge on the back of the case, measuring 90 mm (w) x 165 mm (l).
3. A cased Silver Star Medal. Instituted July 19th, 1942. Constructed of gilt bronze, consisting of a five-pointed star with a central silver star encircled by rays and a laurel wreath, the reverse is inscribed “For Gallantry in Action” in raised capital letters (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting on the reverse), suspended from a pierced block hinge and fixed squared oval loop suspension from its ribbon featuring an oak leaf pin (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting), measuring 36.2 mm (w) x 45.0 mm (l), accompanied by its miniature with a horizontal pinback, measuring 17.9 mm (w) x 23.0 mm (l), with a medal ribbon bar featuring a horizontal pinback and a multi-enameled boutonniere. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Silver Star Medal” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in creamy off-white silk, with an intact silken hinge cover and a felted medal bed, with a functional metal barrel hinge on the back of the case, measuring 90 mm (w) x 170 mm (l).
4. A cased Bronze Star Medal. Instituted February 4th, 1944. Constructed of bronze, consisting of a five-pointed star with a central superimposed star, the reverse inscribed “Heroic or Meritorious Achievement” in a circular fashion, suspended from a pierced block hinge and fixed squared oval loop suspension from its ribbon featuring an oak leaf pin and “V” device for Valor (with evidence of previous collector’s mounting), accompanied by its miniature with a horizontal pinback, measuring 19.0 mm (w) x 21.8 mm (l), with a medal ribbon bar featuring a horizontal pinback and a multi-enameled boutonniere. Accompanied by its case of issue, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Bronze Star Medal” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in creamy off-white silk, with an intact silken hinge cover and a felted medal bed, with a functional metal barrel hinge on the back of the case, measuring 90 mm (w) x 165 mm (l).
