(Instituted February 4th, 1919). Constructed of bronze, suspended from a fixed ball suspension and round swivel ring for suspension from its ribbon featuring a horizontal pinback, consisting of a Cross Pattée with rounded arms and laurels in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a round central medallion featuring a sailing vessel on waves, sailing to the left, the reverse with a similar central medallion with crossed anchors with cables and USN (United States Navy) inscribed in the centre, unmarked, measuring 37.8 mm (w) x 46.2 mm (l), weighing 49.33 grams, accompanied by its presentation case, constructed of a lightweight wooden frame with a textured black faux leather exterior, the exterior of the lid embossed with “Navy Cross” in capital letters as well as dual borders of golden wavy “crinkle crankle” lines on the top of the lid. The sides of the case are adorned with golden embossed lines on the top and bottom of the lid, the interior of the lid is lined in cream-coloured off-white silk, with a functional hinge assembly and intact hinge cover, with a felted medal bed with the addition of a horizontal pinback medal bar and a multi-coloured enameled boutonniere, measuring 90 mm (w) x 168 mm (l), in near extremely fine condition.
