A group of 7 medals, including: An Air Medal with ribbon bar (in its original case); A Superior Cadet Decoration Award (in its original case); 2 Superior Junior Cadet Decoration Award Medals; A ROTC Medal for Heroism (in its original case); A Joint Service Commendation Medal (engraved LAURENCE E CLINE on reverse, in its original case); and A Bronze Star (in its original case). This lot also includes a Purple Heart case, in extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Air Medal was instituted on 11 May 1942 and is awarded to U.S. and civilian personnel for single acts of heroism or meritorious achievements while participating in aerial flight and foreign military personnel in actual combat in support of operations.
The Superior Cadet Decoration Award (as well as the Superior Junior Cadet Award) is presented annually to the outstanding cadet in each year of Military Science at each of the respective ROTC units.
The ROTC Medal for Heroism is the highest United States Department of the Army medal awarded exclusively to Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps cadets. This award is presented to cadets who perform acts of heroism.
The Joint Service Commendation Medal (JSCM) was authorized on June 25, 1963 and is awarded in the name of the Secretary of Defense to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who, after January 1, 1963, distinguished themselves by meritorious achievement or service in a joint duty capacity.
The Bronze Star was authorized on February 4, 1944 and retroactive to December 7, 1941. This medal is awarded to individuals of the armed forces for heroism in combat not involving aerial flight or for meritorious service.
