United States. A U.S Naval Portable Bulkhead Emergency Battle Lantern

 An example of a United States navy portable lantern traditionally mounted on the bulkhead of the vessel and used either to illuminate the immediate area in-front of the lantern or for personal use in the event of a power outage during combat, constructed of heavy-duty grey-painted steel with a single incandescent light bulb behind a thick pane of glass secured shut via six phillips screws, featuring a carrying handle soldered to the top of the lid, the lid itself is removable using six phillips screws (missing one) and reveals the battery (not inspected), the reverse of the lantern features an attachment button for mounting to the bulkhead of the vessel, stamped “Delta Electric Company, Marion Indiana, Made in the U.S.A”, measuring 195 mm (w) x 100 mm (l) x 250 mm (l), a non-functional example (depleted battery) in overall very fine condition.
