Description
A complete Mark II, 1907 Patent, Ross Rifle Bayonet, measuring 407 mm in total length when inserted into the scabbard. It features a 25cm long magnetic steel blade, demonstrating altered shape with a pointed tip and dull blade. The ricasso is unmarked on the obverse and reverse, with an intact short quillion and full muzzle ring. The grip consists of two wedges of walnut-brown wood that are held together by a series of two horizontally-mounted screws. The pommel consists of an intact internal button-release system to attach and remove the bayonet from the tip of the Ross Rifle. The pommel is marked with the Canadian C-Broadarrow mark, with multiple numbers, as well as “Ross Rifle Co - Quebec - Patented 1907”. It includes a matching scabbard, constructed of brown leather with a reinforced metal throat and tip, and featuring a long integrated loop in the leather for threading through a belt, marked R S 12 D - RS 12 MD 24. Demonstrating signs of age and wear, in overall better than very fine condition.
