Australian Active Service Medal 1945-1975, 1 Clasp - VIETNAM (2787316 M.R. DIXON); Vietnam Medal (2787316 M.R. DIXON); Anniversary of National Service Medal 1951-1972 (2787316 M.R. DIXON); and Republic of Vietnam: South Vietnam Campaign Medal (2787316 M.R. DIXON). Naming is pantographed on the AASM and ANSM, impressed on the VM and engraved on the SVCM. Court-mounted with swing bar pinback, as worn by the veteran, original ribbons, extremely fine. Accompanied by a brief research note.
Footnote: Maxwell Ronald Dixon was born on March 3, 1947 in Wellington, New South Wales, the son of Jeane Nell Dixon of Burwood, New South Wales. His fiance at the time was Leonie Dawson of Manly, New South Wales. He enlisted as a Private (2787316) in the Australian Regular Army, on July 12, 1967 with the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion in Sydney, stating that he was Single, that his occupation was that of Bank Clerk and his religion as Church of England. He was posted to the Royal Australian Army Service Corps Centre in Puckapunyal on September 20th and qualified as a Driver on November 23rd. The following year, Private Dixon was found to be absent without leave on July 26, 1968, then transferred two months later, to the 66th Ground Liaison Section on September 30th. He took a Battle Efficiency Course at the Jungle Training Centre in Canungra from May 29 to June 18, 1969 and while taking the course, he was accidentally injured on June 7th. He was found to be absent without leave on a second occasion, this time at South Head on July 1, 1969. The following day, on July 2nd, he left Sydney for Saigon, South Vietnam for operations at Headquarters, 5th Company Royal Australian Army Service Corps. After eleven months service in South Vietnam, Private Dixon returned to Australia on June 4, 1970 and was discharged on July 11, 1970.
