Hardcover, navy blue cloth cover, the YMCA insignia on the front cover and the text on the spine in a gold-coloured ink, entitled "The Canadian Y.M.C.A. in World War II", by Alan M. Hurst, published by the National War Service Committee of The National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations of Canada, printed by Goodfellow Printing Co. Ltd. in 1950. The book documents the extent and diversity of the work directed by the Committee during the war, having utilized YMCA correspondence, routine reports, special reports and general files, along with other outside sources. The inside front cover has a map showing all Canadian YMCAs in 1939 (Canada only), while the inside back cover has a composite map showing all places where Canadian Y.M.C.A. operated during the war (in Canada, Europe and China as of 1945). The frontispiece has a photograph of George Porteous, MBE, YMCA Supervisor with the Winnipeg Grenadiers, Prisoner of War in Hong Kong, 1941-1945. The book is dedicated "To All those Citizens of the World who gave their lives for Peace with Freedom" and begins with an Acknowledgements, followed by a Foreword, a Table of Contents, plus a Preface and Summary. It is divided into six Parts: Part I - The Beginnings; Part II - Personnel (A. Employed Staff; B. Military Helpers; C. Civilian Volunteers; D. Status of Supervisors); Part III - Program (A.
