Hardcover, azure blue cloth cover, entitled "British Light Infantry in the Eighteenth Century", by Colonel John Frederick Charles "Boney" Fuller, D.S.O. (later C.B., C.B.E.), (late 43rd and 52nd Light Infantry), published by Hutchinson & Company on Paternoster Row in London, in 1925. It begins with a Preface by the author (dated January 1, 1925 at Staff College, Camberley), followed by a Table of Contents and a List of Illustrations. The book is divided into twenty chapters: I - Light Infantry in the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Centuries; II - The Invention of the Fusil and the Bayonet; III - The Re-Introduction of Irregulars; IV - The Seven Years' War; V - The American Wars, 1748-1760; VI - The 60th Royal Americans; VII - The Lessons of the Seven Years' War; VIII - The American War of Independence; IX - The Hessians; X - The Tactical Lessons of the American War; XI - The Light Infantry of the French Revolution; XII - The British Army Under Political Control; XIII - The Tactical Demand for Light Infantry; XIV - General Sir David Dundas; XV - Major-General John Money; XVI - The 5th Battalion, The 60th Royal Americans; XVII - The Rifled Musket; XVIII - The Experimental Rifle Corps; XIX - Lieut-Colonel the Hon. William Stewart; XX - Retrospect and Conclusions. It concludes with two Appendices: I - The Manoeuvres of General Howe; II - The Hessians. The book contains 256 pages of text, incorporating seven fold-out panels of illustrations, along with a black and white plate of Colonel Henry Bouquet on the frontispiece, printed in black ink, the text pages on a thick off-white paper stock, the fold-out panels and frontispiece on a thin white paper stock, named in black ink to the previous owner on the inside front cover endpaper, measuring 140 mm (w) x 227 mm (h) x 35 mm (d). It has experienced sunning on the spine, along with scuffing on both the front and back covers, however, the pages within remain unaffected. Better than very fine.
