(Medalla del Chaco). Instituted in 1888. 1888-1889 issue. A rounded medal constructed in silver, the obverse centre showing an engraved Argentine coat of arms with the surrounding inscription CAMPAÑA DEL CHACO (Chaco Campaign), the reverse presenting in three lines the inscription LA NACION ARGENTINA (Argentine Nation), surrounded by a laurel wreath, measuring 30.46 mm (w) x 35.00 mm (inclusive ring suspension), with minor wear and toned silver, suspended by stained original ribbon, very fine.
Footnote: The Chaco Campaign Medal was established by the government of Argentina in 1888, in recognition of Generals, Officers, and men, members of whether the National Guard, the Naval Army, and the Army, as well as Governors and heads of Provinces, who taking part in the last expedition through Cacho province between 1870-1884.
