(Heer Verleihungsurkunden und Fotos). A superb and fascinating lot of award documents and private wartime photographs to Feldwebel Walter Haas, a highly decorated Eastern Front combat veteran, including:
1. A 1939 Iron Cross II Class award document, named to Haas as an Unteroffizier of Infanterie-Regiment 521, issued at divisional headquarters on 7 July 1941, certified by the handwritten signature of Generalmajor Wilhelm Stemmermann (Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, 7 February 1944; with Oak Leaves, 18 February 1944), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
2. A Black Grade Wound Badge award document, named to Haas as an Unteroffizier of Infanterie-Regiment 521, issued in the field on 20 August 1941 for a single wound suffered on 1 August, certified by the handwritten signature of then Hauptmann (later Major) Rolf Pulkowski (German Cross in Gold, 29 April 1942), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class award document, named to Haas as an Unteroffizier of Infanterie-Regiment 521, issued at divisional headquarters on 3 December 1941, certified by the handwritten signature of Generalleutnant Friedrich Krischer Edler von Wehregg (German Cross in Gold, 8 October 1943), measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
4. An Eastern Front Medal award document, named to Haas as an Oberfeldwebel of Grenadier-Regiment 521, dated 24 July 1942, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Major, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
5. A Silver Grade Infantry Assault Badge award document, named to Haas as a Feldwebel of Infanterie-Regiment 521, issued from regimental headquarters on 20 August 1942 and certified by the handwritten signature of then Oberst (later Generalmajor) Carl André (German Cross in Gold, 8 August 1942), measuring 14.5 cm (w) x 20.5 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
6. A Silver Grade Wound Badge award document, named to Haas as a Feldwebel of Grenadier-Regiment 521, issued in the field on 1 July 1943 for three wound suffered on 27 June 1943, certified by the handwritten signature of an unidentified Major and battalion commander, measuring 14 cm (w) x 20 cm (h), in extremely fine condition.
7. A German Cross in Gold preliminary award document, named to Haas as a Feldwebel of Grenadier-Regiment 521, issued from the headquarters of the Supreme Command of the Army, certified by the facsimile signature of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel, measuring 14.5 cm (w) x 21 cm (h), demonstrating some creasing and material fatigue, in very fine condition.
8. A German Cross in Gold official award document, named to Haas as a Feldwebel of Grenadier-Regiment 521, issued from the headquarters of the Supreme Command of the Army, certified by the handwritten signature of Generalfeldmarschall Wilhelm Keitel, measuring 25.5 cm (w) x 35.5 cm (h), demonstrating two folding creases, a scarce document for a prestigious award in near extremely fine condition.

A group of 39 private wartime photographs, of various sizes, depicting Haas in uniform in the field alongside members of his unit, with several images showing notable awards in wear, including the German Cross in Gold (with scenes of Haas receiving this distinction) and the Knight’s cross of the Iron Cross on divisional commanders, a superb primary account of Heer life at home and at the front in overall extremely fine condition.
