(Ordensshnalle). An Officer’s order and medal bar featuring four decorations, including:
1 A Prussian Order of the Crown, III Class Cross, constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, constituting of a Cross Pattée with white enameled arms trimmed with gilt borders, the obverse overlaid by a central medallion bearing a raised royal crown, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt inscription of “GOTT MIT UNS” (“GOD WITH US”) with arabesques, the reverse overlaid by a central medallion bearing a raised monogram of King Wilhelm I, situated within a blue enameled ring bearing a gilt institution date of “DEN 18 OCTOBER 1861”, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 43.38 mm (w) x 47.55 mm (h), demonstrating minor flecking to the enamels, loss of gilt finish, and slight loosening of the centrepiece, in near extremely fine condition.
2. A Prussian Order of the Red Eagle, IV Class Cross, constructed of silver with multi-coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Pattée with pebbled arms, the obverse overlaid by a central white enameled medallion bearing a hand-painted Prussian imperial eagle, the reverse bearing a central raised monogram of King Friedrich Wilhelm II, the twelve o’clock arm topped by an integral loop and suspension ring connecting to a period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 39.72 mm (w) x 42.67 mm (h), in extremely fine condition.
3. A Kaiser Wilhelm Centenary Medal, constructed of gilded bronze, on loop for suspension from its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 38.70 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition.
4. A Landwehr Long Service Award, II Class, constructed of silvered copper, on loop for suspension with its period original ribbon, unmarked, measuring 25.00 mm in diameter, in near extremely fine condition.
All suspended from a 120 mm-long bar with a horizontal bronze core, horizontal pinback, and red wool reverse liner, retaining a fully-intact manufacturer’s label reading “FR. SEDLATZEK, KOCHEL-OBB.”, the Landwehr medal has been re-applied to the bar post-manufacture, in extremely fine condition.
Secreted within its period original presentation case, of two-piece card stock construction, the exterior featuring a faux red leather liner, the lid bearing an additional Sedlatzek maker’s mark in gilt lettering, the interior retaining an original white cotton medal bed, measuring 16.5 cm (w) x 9.5 cm (l) x 3 cm (h), demonstrating moderate material fatigue, in very fine condition.
