A 1St Ss Panzer Division Leibstandarte Ss A.h. Soldier's Service Photo Album

A memorabilia folder for soldiers of the 1st SS Panzer Division Leibstandarte SS A.H., measuring 249x320mm, extremely fine condition with some scuffing. This unit originally began as A.H.’s personal bodyguard, but eventually grew into a division-sized elite unit. The folder contains 16 pages (243x318mm), one introductory page and 15 prints of photographs depicting members of the Leibstandarte SS A.H. in the field. These photographs show a unique and very close look at life and service in one of the most infamous Nazi units, some even depicting soldiers in combat action.The introductory page dates the folder to early 1943. It says that “we look to the future with great confidence. The Führer will find us always prepared! His will is our faith!” It carries a facsimile of SS-Obergruppenführer and General of the Waffen-SS Josef “Sepp” Dietrich (1892–1966) (eventually Oberst-Gruppenführer and Generaloberst of the Waffen-SS). He was one of only 27 recipients of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords, and Diamonds, and commanded the unit until 1943. In the lower left corner, there is the coat of arms of the Leibstandarte SS A.H.
