Australia, Commonwealth. A Cased Companion of the Order of Australia (Museum Display Piece)

(Companion of the Order of Australia). Instituted April 14th, 1975. A round convex disc constructed of gilded bronze alloy, on an attached red, white, and green enameled Royal Crown of St. Edward and swivel ring for suspension from its matching shortened ribbon, the obverse with a central blue enameled ring inscribed with “Australia” in capital letters with laurel sprigs above, the badge is decorated synthetic citrine crystals with very fine flower-like rays and small ball finals, the reverse similar in appearance with a plain polished disc in the centre, unmarked, measuring 59.4 mm in diameter, accompanied by a flip-case constructed of stiff cardstock, with a black faux leather exterior, with a functional dual hinge assembly and intact interior hinge cover, the interior of the lid lined with a white silk blended fabric, and with a recessed black felt medal bed at the base for placement of the award, measuring 109 mm (w) x 158 mm (l), in overall mint condition.
