In silver gilt with enamels, a white-enameled Maltese cross, fleur de lys in each quadrant, unmarked, inclusive of suspensions 11.2 cm (h) x 4.5 cm (w), on black neck ribbon, enamel chipping on the suspension, gilt wear on suspension, very fine.
Footnote: The Order of the Knights of Malta operated in Austria as early as the Twelfth Century. The Austrian Order was charged with aiding the sick, diseased, disabled, refugees, and elderly of the world. The Order of the Knights of Malta within Imperial Austria is also known as the Order of the Knights of Malta of Bohemia.
