(Leopoldsorde / Ordre de Léopold / Leopoldsorden). Instituted in 1832. In 18 karat Gold, Maltese cross in white enamel, each of the arms finished with two ball finials, laurel wreath in green and red enamels, center bearing a crowned lion ringed by the inscription L’UNION FAIT LA FORCE, reverse center bearing the Royal cypher “LLRR I”, inclusive of crown suspension measuring 98.7 mm (h) x 54.8 mm (w), weighing 45.7 grams, on purple neck ribbon, extremely fine condition.
Footnote: The Order of Leopold I was established on 11 July 1832 by King Leopold I. It is the oldest and
highest order of Belgium and is awarded for military, maritime and civil service.
