1) A British Medal Bar with three medals: A Victory Medal measuring 36.2 mm in diameter, removed from the bar, impressed 402232 CPL A Williams 1-CAN. INF; A British War Medal measuring 36.25 mm in diameter, impressed 402232 CPL A Williams 1-CAN. INF; A 1914-15 Star measuring 62 mm x 44.7 mm, awarded to 402232 Pte A.W Williams 1/CAN: INF: All period mounted and in very fine condition.
Footnote: Arthur William Williams was born on 18 November 1892 in London, England. He enlisted on 15 February 1915 in Guelph, Canada having had previous military experience with the 29th Galt. Williams served in the 34th Overseas Battalion. He died in 1971.
Accompanied by a Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes Medal, 1899, awarded to the father of Arthur Williams. In silver, badge consisting of a shield, topped by a crown, obverse centerpiece bearing the monogram of the Order (RAOB) in red and blue enamel, surrounded by the Latin motto NEMO MORTALIUM OMNIBUS HORIS SAPIT (The wisest may make mistakes), all on a white enameled field, the reverse engraved with “Presented to Primo A Williams Good Attendance Jewel to Visiting Brothers from Emperor Frederick Lodge March 29 1903”, marked with lion, leopard's head (London 1821-), and the letter d (1899), 65.4 mm (h) x 38 mm (w), enamel chipping on obverse centerpiece, on original ribbon with gilt plaque measuring 32 mm (h) x 30 mm (w), extremely fine. In its hardshell case, navy satin interior, black velvet medal bed, fine.
