Description
A silver eight point star with large central medallion depicting a figure climbing a ladder to the second story of a blazing house, the reverse is engraved “Presented to G.C Waterfield Esqr for Services rendered to Ping Wo”, measures 54.7mm (w) x 56.2mm (h – inclusive in integral ring built into 12 o’clock arm), weighs 20.8 grams (including ribbon), worn on original ribbon suspended from a round ring and smaller interlocking ring, light wear, on replacement ribbon, in very fine condition.
Footnote: It is unclear whether Ping Wo is an individual or a location (in 1900, a fort existed at a Village near Canton named Ping Wo).
