Description

(የኢትዮጵያ ኮከብ ትዕዛዝ, III ክፍል መኮንን / ye’ītiyop’iya kokebi ti‘izazi, III kifili mekonini). Instituted in 1879. Three-piece construction, in bronze gilt, unmarked, measuring 54.5 mm (w) x 74.3 mm (h) inclusive of its crown suspension, large rosette affixed to its original ribbon, very light contact, near extremely fine.

Footnote: The Order of the Star of Ethiopia was instituted in 1879 by Negus Menelik of Shoa (later Emperor Menelik II). It was awarded in five grades: Knight Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight, with the recipient entitled to use the post-nominal letters: GCSE (Grand Cross), GOSE (Grand Officer), CSE (Commander) or KSE (Knight).
