Europe. A Pair of Medals and Decorations

A mixed lot of two medals and decorations, consisting of: 

1. A War Cross for Foreign Operational Theaters (Croix de guerre des Théâtres d’opérations extérieurs). Instituted April 30th, 1921. A bronze Cross Pattée with straight arms and crossed swords through the center of the cross, the obverse with a circular medallion bearing the effigy of the Republic (Marianne) wearing a cap decorated with a laurel wreath, surrounded by a ring bearing the legend “République Française”, the reverse with a similar central medallion inscribed “Théâtres D’Opérations Extérieurs”, on a horizontally pierced ball and swivel ring for suspension, measuring 38.0 mm (w) x 46.5 mm (l). 

2. A National Security Voluntary Militia’s Long Service Cross, constructed of bronze, consisting of a Cross Pattée with axed fasces between the arms of the cross, the obverse with a central medallion inscribed “MVSN” (Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale), the reverse with a similar central medallion inscribed “Dieci Anni” (Ten Years), on a triangular swivel ring for suspension from its fragile and partially torn period original ribbon, measuring 38.1 mm (w) x 42.1 mm (l).
